Why a player shows old results, and how to refresh it
Also asked as: changes not showing · player not updated · stale results · old answers · I changed the questions but nothing happened
To answer instantly, a player keeps a search cache: pre-computed results for its suggested questions. If you change the content a player draws on, or change its suggested questions, the cached answers can lag behind until they are rebuilt.
Refreshing the cache
- Go to Players and open the player
- Open its Cache page. It lists each cached question, when it was cached, and when it expires
- Select Refresh Cache to rebuild every entry from your current content
If the cache is empty, use Build Cache to precompute results for your suggested questions.
When to do this
- After adding, removing or replacing uploads in a player's content selection
- After editing the suggested questions
- When a player keeps giving an answer you know is out of date
Cached entries expire on their own after a while, so the player will catch up eventually without you doing anything. Refreshing just makes it immediate.
